With tighter beamwidth, the NBE-5AC-GEN2 NanoBeam ac Gen2 airMAX ac CPE with Dedicated Management Radio from Ubiquiti Networks offers a more reliable long-distance point-to-point connection. Boasting a maximum throughput up to 450 Mb/s, this NanoBeam radio is designed to filter out noise to reduce interference in areas congested with multiple RF signals while offering up to 19 dBi gain. Setup is simple, as the NanoBeam can be mounted to a pole (kit included) or to the wall and aligned using its own 3-axis mount to ensure it is level.

I’ve been using dozens of these over the years, all in open elements here in the pacific northwest, and they honestly never fail me! (As long as your cautious about your fw updates) Gen2 has some welcome features like a 2nd jack with POE passthrough. Get these configured right and they’ll handle whatever you throw at them

This equipment was installed to provide a network bridge between my home and a large metal shop building, about 200 feet apart. Although my mesh system provided a wifi signal into the shop, the signal was weak and throughput extremely slow. This bridge cured all. I’ve been using it for only two weeks, but once it was setup and mounted, it has been working like a champ. Mounting the devices was the second hardest part about the install, climbing on to high structures and running cables is just a fact of life with networking. The reason I awarded four stars and not five is because of the software setup, the instructions are horrible, yet the actual procedure is super simple with the new install firmware. If the written instructions had just given me a few simple guiding words the process would have been effortless. To make things more disappointing I reached out to Ubiquity for help by email, I have yet to hear from them. Only by some trial and error guesses did I finally get this up and running. So if you need this technology and are willing to figure out the setup, you’ll love this system.

With slightly higher CPU, expected has better performance. This was not the case, the throughput stayed the same vs Gen 1, and somewhat less reliable signals. That might be the reason it’s cheaper as that of Gen 1.

We use this for our senior’s community resident-owned wifi system and have used this antenna for several years with minimal problems. Most are usually user-related and if not programmable Ubuquiti has always replaced them. B&H’s pricing is the best I have found lately and some dealers are not able to get or ship within a reasonable time. I got my order from B&H Photo in 2 weeks.

I have 2 pairs connecting 2 buildings. In fact these are daisy chaining a connection from one building to another and from the other to a near house. If you have not setup similar devices in the past you might have a little more difficulty but overall I think is very easy and reliable.

I needed a bullet proof LAN bridging solution with a 4500 sq ft house on one end and a mother in law suite (house) 90 yards away from the main house. I got two of these and beamed the LAN Network via BRIDGE mode from house to the suite 90 yards away. These things can beam up to a mile away. I have done it in the past with a Line Of Sight and it works flawlessly unless there is hurricane rains (the only time it went down). They are solid. After setup and tweaking aiming and settings I get 69Mbps via the bridge on a 100Mbps Connection. Mind you I am 90 yards from the house. This is sufficient for Netflix Amazon Prime and YouTube TV. NO PACKET LOSS AT ALL !!! Basically you want to beam from point to point and put networks on either side GET THIS. NOTE – THIS DOES NOT BEAM WIFI it just bridges from location to location. This is not suggested for the novice user
