I use this SSD in an eternal NVME enclosure with a Thunderbolt/USB C interface. It’s been working great. I haven’t done any direct performance analysis but my backups now are at least a magnitude faster which is all I really care about.

Being a video editor I needed to upgrade my Rendering Drive with a very fast solution, to help save precious time and increase my overall productivity … so I went with this 2TB M.2 NVMe flashdrive. When rendering a video file in the background, it’s AT LEAST 2x the speed of my old drive and I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER!!!

Comes with a basic heatspreader with an easy application (but no screw). Seemed fine as a drive and was speedy when it worked. Sadly my particular item had issues with crashing and often disappeared from BIOS. Thankfully B&H customer support let me return it!

512MB doesn’t cut it any longer for a boot drive where it is necessary to store the multiple programs required in media production. It is really nice to have high speed space where one can store video work files in progress. I have not been able to yet achieve the full advertised speed yet, but that could possibly be as a result of configuration or thermal throttling. Further work on my part will be necessary, but I am happy with the current speed and price.

I’m getting consistent 2.1GB/s sequential write and 2.8GB/s sequential read. Sustained write is more of a mixed bag for very large files. Most transfers larger than about 25GB tend to slow down to around 500MB/s. Ultimately, that’s expected for this price point. If you need good sustained write and transfer tons of large files, go with a Samsung EVO. Installation was easy and the included stick on heat spreader was nice and thin so it fit on my motherboard’s low-clearance rear M.2 slot. After initialization with Disk Management in Windows, it works as expected.

Really makes a difference with 150GB of MSFS 2020.

I plugged 4 XPG 2TB SX8200 Pros into an OWC 4M2 enclosure and configured it as RAID4. Even on a TB2 iMac, I’m getting 1300MB/s. Editing 4k video is a breeze.

I picked this up to put into an older system that I was selling. It is shockingly fast! Windows 10 was installed in about 10 minutes and boot times from power on to the desktop take 10 seconds. Read/write performance is great as well. The “heat spreader” that ships with it is about 0.5 mm thick aluminum and comes with a thermal pad, it’s more of an aesthetic piece but at least it’s better than nothing.
