Instantly add four USB 3.0 ports to any compatible device with the USB 3.0 4-Port Hub with Individual Power Switches from Sabrent. In an era when you need to connect many USB devices at once—printer, card reader, cell phone, iPod, thumb drive, mouse, keyboard, external hard drive… you name it— this small and lightweight hub is a handy means of expanding one USB 3.0 port into four on the go. Four separate power switches with LED indicators allow for individual control of the hub’s ports. Included with the hub is a 2.5A adapter with 5.5′ cable for powering your devices.

May be fine for devices not requiring much power (mice, printers, etc., however, t his will NOT support multiple USB external hard drives simultaneously – get an externally powered hub instead.

Right out of the box I connected my two new 4TB drives to the hub and attempted to upload some video clips from a 64 GB SD card to one of the drives. The headers loaded and then it went to never, never land. It crashed and I had to reboot. So I tried an upload from the hard drive. Same problem…crash # 2. The hub illuminated the switch indicators OK, but it could not deal with the video. I hooked both of the new G Drives, plus an older G Drive 2 TB unit to my desk top computers 3.0 ports and all was well in both directions for all three units. Further I reconnected one of the 4TB drives thru the hub again and uploaded some data files and that did work. I am not sure what the issue is with the video, but the 4 port hub did not meet my intended goal to free up some 3.0 ports on the desk top computer.

I have several different pieces of gear from Sabrent. This USB switch works supremely so that I can switch the three printers I have to my pc.

I bought this USB splitter to connect multiple GLYPH Studio Raid 8-TB hard drives to my Macbook Pro. The drives mounted, but didn’t run smoothly and wouldn’t eject. I’m sure this could work for someone looking to connect smaller USB devices, but if you’re looking to connect hard drives I would avoid!

Let the fact that the Sabrent 4-port USB 3 Hub ships with its own power cord, transformer and wall plug be a clue that this USB hub may be too weak and inefficient for you. Based my purchase on one of those “10 best” online reviews, which turned out to be complete bs. The specs look fine on paper, but the USB 5V is divided equally into the 4 channels, so only 1.25V per port. This hub is fine if all you want to do is transfer data between USB sticks, but who buys a 4-port hub for that? This Hub is too weak (connected only via USB) to run my USB-powered barometer, which has a very small draw – note almost invisible numbers on LCD photo attached. Just to prove it is not my device, see it working fine on two inexpensive competing-brand USB Hubs that I own already (Targus and Xcellon) – see photos of high-contrast numbers on both. Followed up with Sabrent support but the communication just confirmed the issue. Liked the small size and four individual lighted switches, but this is a fail based on design performance.

Don’t waste your time with this one. I can not even run two USB 3 drives at the same time using the powered adapter.

Small and powerful, works great with my MacBook Pro!
