RYOBI introduces the 2.6 Amp Corded 5 in. Random Orbital Sander. The RYOBI 5 in. Random Orbit Sander runs on a powerful 2.6 Amp motor and 12,500 OPM (orbits per minute) to deliver a smooth performance in a variety of sanding applications. Crafted with an ergonomic design for comfort as you work, the sander accepts hook and loop sandpaper for fast and easy grit changes and comes with an array of sandpaper for convenience. To help prevent accidental workplace gouging during start-up, the sander also features a spin-control pad braking system for added safety. Backed by the RYOBI 3-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty, the 5 in. Random Orbit Sander includes a sandpaper assortment, a dust bag, and an operator’s manual.

It’s a good sander for 50$. It does the job, it sands. The issue is it’s terrible for ergonomics, no adjustable speed, and horrible vibrations. Its fine for the occasional DIYer, but can’t hold up to the use of a woodworker. Nonetheless, it served me well for 2 years. I have since upgraded to festool. Either way i recommend this sander for someone looking for a cheap one, although I’d buy the 70$ bosch one over this any day.

This is a very aggressive sander with not much finesse. Even with 120 grit paper it still left swirl marks which ended with going through the cherry veneer of the cabinet I was working on. It does not have soft start nor variable speed, both would be a very nice feature but unfortunately would end with an increase of price. It would be a nice sander for a rough carpenter but not for a finish shop!
