This vac does not have enough suction power. It will not pick up small nails or small wood chips. Does handle dust and small debris. Not what I expected for a 14 gallon vacuum. Yes it meets the need for working on lead based paint projects. However for the cost I expected more power.

After, what I would call, the “break-in” period where there was a slight burning smell this worked flawlessly. I have only used it with the provided vacuum bag and it seems like nothing gets out. Suction is good, and better than expected after reading reviews on RRP HEPA vacs. Plenty of attachments, though I have only used a few at this point. I got some larger debris lodged in the hose a few times and simply reversing the hose sorted that right out.

Performed as expected. Stored accessories can get in the way while in use, I recommend removing while using vacuum.

Trusted brand. Good product, great warranty. If the suction was a little stronger on this, it would easily get 5 stars from me.

I agree with another reviewer. This vacuum motor does not have as much stank on it as some other shop vacs I have used but they were not HEPA (I may even get more suction from my HEPA canister vac but it doesn’t do wet). Some of the other HEPA wet/dry options were SO much more expensive than this one. I will probably try to adapt with a narrower wand attachment to get some more power out of it. For contractors, it might be worth the investment in the more expensive, higher performing units. This fits the bill for occasional residential use.

Keeps me legal, but it’s suction leaves something to be desired.

I am a licensed pro, I did my Epa certification, And now I needed the hepa vac,.With lots of research and eye popping prices,I stumbled upon this vac (AND IM GLAD I DID), I have many shop vacs including the lovless drywall vac, This ridgid vac is by far the best quality Ive ever used.It comes with all the acssesories you will ever need, The turbo beater bar is unbeleivable ( made in germany by the way) I wont ramble on ! So if you need a epa certified hepa vac than dont think twice.Ridgid makes great products ,

Needed a Hepa vac to comply with new epa lead regulations. This vac has good suction, decent beater bar and great value. It is large and heavy compared to some of the other Hepa vacs on the market, but none of the competitors could compete with the price. I bought this on clearance for $299 when some the stores were discontinuing this item. Only certain stores now carry the Hepa vac.

We bought this to clean up a basement that has lead-based paint dust. The HEPA filter is expensive but worth it. The machine holds a lot of debris, is rather lightweight (I’m 5′ 1″ and can’t lift much), and the cord is nice and long. Just one thing: I wish there was a hose holder that would hold the hose in place when wrapped around the machine. Other than that, great.

Great product. It is being used in an industrial setting and is performing great. Good value for the price. I would recommend it to get the job done.

I did a whole-house renovation with this vacuum. It was a bit cheaper than other brands but I wish I spent the extra money. Two major complaints– first, a design flaw that causes the bag to catch on bolts and tear open as you lift it out (full of toxic stuff). Even being very mindful and cautious could not prevent the bag from ripping some of the time. Second, it’s just not that powerful with the large hose it comes with it. I ended up using a smaller diameter hose and that worked better. Oh, and I guess I have a third complaint– when you lift up the unit by it’s main handle on top, the rubber clamps that keep it together flex, exposing the inner chamber. That can’t be a good characteristic in a HEPA vac. I’m keeping it because I have to.

The HEPA vac did its job to clean up after vandals emptied a fire extinguisher in our trailer. I bought the bags to supplement the HEPA filtration and it worked well. It’s a bit pricey, but the set-up was worth it for me. I would recommend the vac to anybody who needs extra filtration and safety. Otherwise you could probably do something similar with a 5-layer filter and internal bags.

I bought this a year ago and have used it for cleaning up a variety of renovation jobs, e.g. floor sanding, attic cleaning. I find that the hose pipes and attachments tend to either fall off or, if really jammed on, are then pretty hard to remove. The fact that they fall off made me feel they couldn’t have a very good seal for keeping toxic dust out of the air. I find the 14″ floor attachment pretty useless for sucking up fine dust – it will get the bulk of the dirt, if you’re patient, but it is slow going and won’t leave the floor clean – it just doesn’t create good suction. The other attachments have better suction but are all smaller. It isn’t great at sucking up large debris, but this would probably get stuck pretty easily, so that may not be a bad thing. I thought it would suck up nails but it doesn’t using most of the attachments. It says it is 14 Gallons, but the bag doesn’t seem to hold more than half that volume, if you use a bag. It’s pretty heavy and quite bulky for carrying up and down stairs and it is heavy enough to dent raw wood. Otherwise, it works well. I’ve been pleased that when the hose gets blocked, it is usually somewhere fairly accessible, so it isn’t too hard to unblock it. Cleaning the attic where there were both twigs and bits of shredded newspaper, it got blocked constantly. The wheels work well for pulling it around and it’s nice that the attachments & pipes fit on it/in the bag, although they may fall off as it is carried around. The top is nicely attached with clamps – it’s easy to take off and replace the filter/bag. I’ts very tough and is more likely to dent things than be damaged. For the substantial price, I was expecting the attachments to fit on more securely and easily and better suction on the floor attachment.

Other reviews are right. Hose falls off of the connections, attachment holding bag is worthless, suction is ok, larger pieces get stuck in the hose where the hose connects as it tapers down. Quieter than I expected. I just hope it is true HEPA to make all of this worth it. I’ll let you know in a couple of decades!
