Good tool for cutting drywall repair holes or new mod projects. would have been nice to have a variable speed wheel to tune down from the 28k rpm for lighter applications and use like a ‘dremel’ also with it already having 2 different size collets for bit placement. also would have been nice to have a small storage spot for the collets when not in the tool chuck to prevent loss; just an idea. overall, nice tool.

This Ridgid drywall cutout tool seems to be a solid worker. First, the good: It is relatively lightweight and easy to maneuver. The depth of cut adjustment is a tool-free design with a simple flip lever to change the shoe position and the shoe – when removed from the tool – has a built-in wrench for bit changes (a very nice feature). The switch is recessed in the tool to prevent accidental activation and still manages to be easily accessible from multiple hand positions on the tool. The belt clip is sturdy and highly functional. The not-so-good: The user manual doesn’t have even a listing of included accessories or tool diagram, so it took me a minute to figure out that the depth shoe also functioned as a wrench. Although it is in-line with the industry standard, there is no dust extraction/containment on this tool. Overall: A capable tool that will get the job done without any bells or whistles.

It does not the ability to make a detailed cut as I had hoped. For rough and quick cut, it is perfect. Still no regrets in the purchase.

We had been toying with the idea of using a dremel attachment to cut out holes in our sheetrock as we were hanging it and really glad we spent the money on this tool body. We already have a small collection of Rigid tools, so we didn’t need to buy a battery and saved some money there. This cut-out tool worked perfectly to cut out outlets, can lights, furnace openings. Being able to set the appropriate depth was useful and allowed us to get a better cut through 5/8 and 1/2 inch sheetrock. A few things that we found that worked well: 1. we cut out the inside dimensions of a box or opening by running the tool along the inside edge, then took the tool and ran it around the outside so the sheetrock dropped into place and was a tight fit. It took a little more time, but we didn’t have as many “bounces” were the tool cut sheetrock it didn’t need to.2. get extra bits and change them, more often than you think you need to. We ended up using 8 bits for a standard basement sheetrock job with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and living room, and all the can lights. A new bit went a long way in making things go smoothly.

Great, low profile drill. I bought it because my existing drill was too long to fit where I needed to use it. I have other Rigid 18-volt devices and this uses the same batteries.

Gift for one of our sons. Great product. Strong enough to do anything he needs to use it for around the house.

The tool is actually fine I’m sure, but I purchased this because the web order I order of a Dewalt version took almost a month to come in, so I bought this a temporary solution, but upon opening it, someone else had already returned it and it was clear that it was used and just put back on the shelf for resale. Now I have to return it and luckily my Dewalt version finally came in. Not the tools fault, but overall problem with the HD that I frequent.

Drill seems to be well made and is very powerful. Excellent at this time. Of course as with anything, only time will tell if it holds up.
