Got this in the Auro Pro X2 package for 2TB. Needed to upgrade my 2015 MacBook Pro Retina from 500GB to 2TB. The upgrade went well and was done according to all video instructions provided by OWC, Unfortunately the issues started immediately and there was nothing that I could do to have a stable and productive laptop. I could let me laptop go to rest, if so I would have to reboot again while pressing CMD+Option+R+P so that I could go back in. For someone who travels a lot and requires going from one meeting to another when with customers this was obviously really annoying to say the least and highly disruptive and disrespectful towards the customer who was waiting for me to get ready to get meetings going. So, I finally decided to get the latest MacBookPro 16 inch with ESC key andgive my old laptop to my daughter. In the process I restored the original SSD to the Mac and all issues went away and my daughter can still enjoy an amazing laptop. In the process I also stored the 2TB Aura X2 SSD into the provided enclosure just so I could at least use the drive as extra storage through USB…. and that does not work either. In suma, I feel I literally threw away $1000 on my first and possibly the last shopping at OWC. I had a few more things I needed but I’m honestly horrified of throwing such amount of money on things that only seem to half work as advertised.

Beware that this item has issues with MacOS High Sierra and Mojave as of 30-SEP-2018. You must disable the hybernation/sleep feature of the Mac or it will freeze. It is a well-known issue by the manufacturer (macsales, owc) and they will still not put a warning in the product page nor stop selling it.

I have long been a fan of OWC because they provide excellent product and excellent service. The same is true of B&H and that is why I usually purchase from them. In this case the SSD drive was at a very good price, no tax, no shipping cost. Win-win-win. I installed the drive in my MacBook Air (easy as eating chocolate pie). However, I did have a little trouble getting the drive up and running, as I am not a techno nerd (my compliments to those who are), so I called OWC and I am here to tell you that their technical support is second to none! They patiently persevered with me, speaking impeccable English! Oh, and did I mention the wimpy little 125 GB drive that came with my Macbook Air has given way to a super fast OWC 480GB SSD? My 2015 MacBook Air should be good for at least five more years!

As far as I know, OWC provides the only alternative to the grossly overpriced Apple SSDs for the recent MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Pro. This is my third OWC SSD. The other two are more than a year old, and have given me no grief at all. Four stars rather than five: When you get the SSD, the instructions recommend a heat sink for the memory chip. OWC treats these as a $4-$5 option. Why not include one, if they are advisable??? B&H doesnt list them, either. If you live in a larger city, or have a lot of old computers lying around, you can probably find one easily. (The OWC SSD comes with heat-sink putty already in place.)
