Mount 2.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs in the 3.5″ bay of your 2009-2012 Apple Mac Pro using the 2.5″ Drive Sled for 2009-2012 Apple Mac Pro from OWC / Other World Computing. This drive sled is designed with powder-coated aluminum that helps to dissipate heat. Additionally, its blue color allows you to identify which bay(s) contain 2.5″ drives.
To mount a drive to this sled, simply use the four included hard drive mounting screws to secure to the drive to the sled, and then insert it into an available 3.5″ drive bay. This 2.5″ Drive Sled aligns the SATA connection from your 2.5″ drive to the back plane SATA ports on your Mac Pro. Please note that while this drive sled is compatible with 2009-2012 Mac Pro systems (MacPro4,1 and MacPro5,1), it is not compatible with Mac Pro systems released in 2006 (MacPro1,1), 2007 (MacPro2,1), or 2008 (MacPro3,1).

It’s a sturdy aluminium tray, you just screw in your SSD and slide it back into your Mac Pro. It works perfectly!

Works in 2010 Mac Pro. Well built and works as advertised. Screws included but may need tweezers or just some patients to seat screws in tight spots. Overall a good product and must-have to make the upgrade to a SSD drive.

I just purchased my fourth Mount Pro 3.5 Tray for my mid-2010 Mac Pro desktop to house a Crucial MX500 2 TB SSD. Super easy installation and flawless design. While my computer is my primary system for video editing, I just set up a DAW as a 16-track recording station. The 2 TB SSD will be a dedicated capture drive for all recordings. The other three trays also house Crucial SSDs as well. Can’t say enough good things about this product.

I acquired a 2009 Mac Pro from my sister last year and have been pimping it out with upgraded RAM, processors, a 2.5 SSD, etc. I originally purchased a generic drive sled for the SSD, but it clearly didn’t fit and after doing some research, the only thing that is available (and will work) is the OWC 2.5 drive sled. I purchased my first one through Amazon back in November. Recently I decided to purchase another SSD for the machine, went to Amazon to ‘buy again’, and now the same drive sled was more than double the original price. So, I shopped around on-line and found the best price at B&H. I’d never purchased through them before, but decided to give it a shot. Through Amazon, the drive sled would have cost me over $50 CND landed at my door (with a 5-10 shipping time, even with my Prime membership). With B&H, it landed at my door for just under $30 CDN – it shipped on Monday from N.Y., traveled across the continent and across the border to the Canadian west coast and arrived on Wednesday (two days later) – AMAZING! Great to see someone giving Amazon a run for their money. From now on, I’ll be checking out B&H Photos for all of my camera/electronics purchases.
