   I mounted a 16d common nail in my vise in an attempt to show cutting time. As you can see in the video holding my phone and my Makita multi-tool proved too much and I ended up angling down into the jaws of my vice a bit. Had I not gotten into the vice it would have cut it much faster. I recommend the tool. I did note however that while packaging of the tool says “universal fit” I did have to use one of the adapters that came with my Makita multi-tool to allow easy removal during blade changeouts. While the blade will go on without the adapter there is interference which causes the blade to become stuck on requiring a tap to remove it when mounted without the Makita adapter (supplied by Makita and not this blade). I really liked that the blade was labeled as “Extreme Metal”. I find several blades look very similar so it’s nice to know when I’m grabbing this one vs. the “multi-material” blade. If I know I’m needing to cut metal I prefer to use this one.

   Seems durable and cuts really well. I used it to cut copper water pipe that had a fitting close to the wall, so I couldn’t use a regular pipe wheel. I know copper is super soft and easy to cut, but this did a really good job. Just to see what it could do, I cut a framing nail and a deck screw with no problem. I fits on my dremel no problem- if you’re looking for an oscillating blade to cut metal, this does what it is supposed to.

   Finally, a long lasting blade for my oscillating tool!!! I have had no luck with ordinary bi-metal blades. They dull out and start burning up material with very little use. I was eager to test out the carbide blade and see if it truly is better. I can tell you wholeheartedly it is! Upon receiving the blade I saw that it is a universal fit and comes with an adapter that some tools require. I used this in my Dewalt 20v oscillator and it went right on in 1 second with no fuss and no adapter required. My first project was cutting a vinyl clad ceiling open for a bath fan. It cut the vinyl and the Sheetrock with no issue and even cut through 2 Sheetrock screws that would have dulled out a lesser blade rendering it garbage. My second project involved installing vinyl plank flooring and I used this blade to undercut a few door jambs and to trim some of the odd shapes in the vinyl plank. Again, no issues. I even tested it on a scrap pergo laminate floor plank and it cut great. This one blade performed amazing at everything I’ve done with it so far and has outlasted what would have used up 3 regular blades. Do yourself a favor and give these blades a try. You wouldn’t be disappointed.

   The blade fits tightly on my Ridgid Jobmax Oscillating head and attached at 90° intervals. The blade has a double row of teeth facing opposite direction. I cut a 2×4 with Galvanized nail and some damage to middle of blade so I went to copper tubing and made 2 cuts (see pic). The blade went through slow but steady once it got past the edge. The teeth looked worn (see pic) but I tried a 2×4 with 2 screws, one deck screw and one galvanized screw. It cut through the wood easily but very slow when it got to the screws. I kept moving the blade around to it would use more of the teeth to cut. Finally made it through both screws but took a long time. The teeth are pretty much all chipped and broken but I tried for another cut to test durability. The blade went through the wood easily but after about 30 seconds I had not made a dent in the screws. (see pic). I expected more from a blade labeled ‘Extreme Material’, ‘Faster Cutting’, ’50 times longer life’ and carbide teeth. I would not recommend this blade due to it’s poor performance and durability on wood with screws.

   If you have ever struck a nail while using a standard wood cutting blade on your oscillating tool, you know that the blade is pretty much toast at that point. This carbide blade will allow you to cut through the occasional staple or nail without turning it into a wood burning tool. This is a true universal fit and works well on my Makita. The 1 3/8″ blade width lets you make a long cut easily.
