The Makita 12 Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser (model LS1219L) combines capacity, accuracy and efficient dust extraction in a more compact size, with a unique 2-Steel Rail Sliding System that offers a reduced footprint for operation flush against a wall. The innovative direct-drive gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity of baseboard (6-3/4) and crown molding (8 nested). It will also make 15 crosscuts at 90. The saw miters 0 to 60 left and right, with positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45 and 60 (left or right). The bevel lock is located in the front of the saw for easy access and quick adjustments from 0 to 48 (left and right). The saw is powered by a 15 Amp direct drive motor with soft start, a key point of difference. Direct drive enables smoother start-ups and consistent, constant power with no belts to slip or replace. The electric brake provides added convenience. In addition, the electronic speed control maintains constant speed under load for smoother, higher-quality cutting. This Promotion also comes with a bonus AF601 16 Gauge, 2-1/2″ Straight Finish Nailer.

A quality saw. I’ve had this saw since 5-29-20.The only concern I have is the abrupt return on the saw after I cut and release> It slams back in place. I also don’t like the way the miter doesn’t lock in place and sometimes will find another setting.Lastly the rubber dust collectors will collide when pushing the saw in the bevel position. I’m still learning all the functions of this saw,but overall I am happy with my purchase and it has met my expectations so far. I like the quiet start of the saw and it cuts very true & straight.

Laser is spot on. Did not have larger Allen wrench. Had smaller one. Advertised as more compact but rather large for shelf storage. Should have incorporated The vacuum system hose into the Sawdust bag outlet. Still, a good saw.

LOVE this saw, mostly. Love the 60 degrees either way. Laser is right on the kerf. Easy to adjust – except the head tilt – hate the two buttons and knob you have adjust to tilt the blade.

This saw is a winner. It’s operation is smooth and accurate. The dust collection using a vacuum is excellent! This saw is a great Kapex contender, and if you require a 12″ blade, in a class of It’s own. This replaced a Gen 2 Metabo 12″ sliding compound miter saw that also slid forward on fixed rails. The Metabo was noisy, sticky in the slide, and had bad blade runout. It was basically a cheap Chinese copy of the fine Hitachi saws of the past. Sad but true. Buy the Makita and enjoy.

This is my new workhorse. I use it for most of my weekend work. It’s so easy to cut a bevel on a 2×6. I mark the board, flip it on its edge, turn on the laser, line up the laser with my line, clamp the board in place and fire up the saw. I connected my dust collector to the exhaust hose so I can my workshop relatively clean. I like the soft start, and the motor noise isn’t ear piercing.
