The Makita HR5000 2 in. Rotary Hammer has a powerful 11 Amp motor that delivers 2,100 BPM for the most demanding applications. The torque limiting clutch prevents gear damage by automatically disengaging gears if the bit binds. The rotary hammer includes 2-mode operation for hammering only or hammering with rotation for multiple applications.
- Sequential impact timing – hammer timing during rotation to minimize overlapping bit impacts resulting in up to 50% more drilling efficiency
- Makita motor advantage – field core interlocking steel laminations, dual ball bearing armature and large surface commutator, resulting in the most efficient transfer of energy for greater power
- AC/DC switch for use with alternative power source
- All-ball and needle bearing construction for longer tool life
- Automatic brush cut-off protects commutator from damage for longer tool life
- Large comfortable grip swivels 360° for easy handling
- Spline type drive system for maximum power
- Factory grease packed for reduced maintenance
- Accepts spline bits

Heavy duty. Core drill 5″ holes in concrete, no problem. Have an older version also that is still going strong.

I’ve owned 3 of these drills. I’m looking to buy a fourth one. Over 22 years, I’ve worked drilling holes in concrete, cutting ventilator holes in home foundations, etc. I’ve used them until they were too hot to touch, and I’ve never had one break down on me. It is a little light for demolition, but works great for removing brick or concrete block. It works ok for cutting an opening in a concrete floor, if you aren’t trying to remove major portions of it. You can drill 1/2 or 3/4 inch holes in concrete all day long with no problems. It gives you a lot of options on positioning of the side handle, which comes in handy in tight places. I am in pest control, so I’m in a lot of tight places. It rotates very slowly, but it hammers very fast. This worried me at first, but but it works great. I prefer this drill over any I’ve used. I would like it to be a little less costly, but it is well made,so I won’t complain too much.

this hammerdrill performs better than expected. a bit heavy but this is expected in a drill with the bit capacityof drill. the drill has no anti-vibration features but wieght of drill negates this.customer service was very good from intial order to the time of delivery which was alot faster than expected. have owned and used different brands but they don’t offer a comparable product.
