This knife may be a little bulky, but it’s definitely not your cheapo $.99 box cutter. Aside from the rubber grip, the best feature is clearly the quick change blade. The thumb tab release is awesome and the slide in and latch feature makes blade change very efficient. Blade storage access in the handle is also a great feature.

Throughout the years I’ve always heard people in the trades always complain about one thing or the other in regards to their Utility Knife. Well, thats because they usually aren’t using Dewalt, but more importantly, they’re not using this particular product. I cant stress enough, all the problems, across the board with all uses are solved with this Utility Knife. Blades hold and blade exchange are unmatched against everything I’ve ever used. Blade storage truly keeps your blades rust free. Ergonomic handle, holds great and fits perfect in carpenters pants side pocket or back pants wallet pocket. Rubber gripping doesn’t let it slide out of pocket when sitting or squatting, but is in such a way that it’s not a hassle getting it in and out of the pocket, its really perfect in that way. Handle also is a superior hold to your hand, NO sliding or need to adjust the hand because the handle prevents certain angles, none of that nonsense, Dewalt nailed this in all details and follow through in production. Us Multi Trade people have been waiting forever for this flawless design and your Utility Drawer at home didn’t know until now, it needed this. Why have a Utility Knife AND something to hold blades, creating clutter in the drawer.I did a bunch of cutting sheet rock and the blade never pulled out and all the dust never jammed up the blade change. I used to to score plywood, blade never pulled out. This is a must for every trade, whether its in your tool pouch, maintenance bucket, work bench in the shop or the utility drawer at home, this is the new standard. Thank You Dewalt for giving us, the pros and everyday Joes, what we asked for!

Really great for cutting roof shingles due to the design angle using hook blades

Used this quite a bit already. I do garage door screens and it works great for that. Beyond that the blade retracts and extends easily, and it feels good in the hand. Had a good weight to it as well, feels solid. The blade storage is simple and easy to use. New way of changing blades is nice over the button on the last knife I had. Overall great knife.

I had a Milwaukee utility knife that I used for years until it would no longer lock in the fully extended position. When I went to replace it, all I could find were plastic ones, do I decided to try this one. I am extremely happy with the price and performance so far. I recommend this tool.

The blade release is smoother and easier to actuate. The grips now have “tread” making it more stable in a gloved head. The blade storage trap door is sturdy. I am a big fan of all these up grades, however the gear loop is cheaply made and pretty much unusable. With “premium” in the name I was hoping for a metal body but this one is mostly plastic (attached pictures of old style vs new). Overall very pleased.

I used this utility knife to cut some small dry wall patches. Loved that it held up and felt sturdy. Also used the knife to cut up a massive pile of cardboard for the recycle center. I’ve decided to add this to my tool bag because it’s heavy and feels strong enough to handle anything I throw at it. I typically use a folding utility knife, but this has changed my perspective. Everyone should keep one of these close and handy.

This is a really sturdy feeling utility knife, with a metal frame extending throughout the whole thing. The rubberized grip portions are well placed for a variety of handhold positions – I particularly like the thumb pad right behind the blade for extra leverage. The extending/retracting mechanism is smooth, with a stop for fully retracted, one for 1/3 extension to allow for shallower cuts, another at 2/3 extension, and one for full extension. The quick change blade lever works well so far, and is much easier than some other utility knife designs where you basically have to disassemble the knife.Speaking of which, the blade storage is really convenient too. There’s a lever at the rear of the knife that pops open the waterproof compartment that holds up to 5 extra blades. There’s even a rubber gasket built in to protect the spare blades from moisture and rust.I think the only complaint that I have is the spring clip on the back end of mine is a little deformed, and won’t close properly on its own. I have to wiggle it into place to get it completely seated.

I got this knife a few weeks ago just in time to finish my basement. The knife performed very well at scoring drywall and cutting foam board insulation. The knife is built dewalt tough and it shows. Recommend to everyone I know!

Well designed knife. feels great in hands, no slips. Improved blade storage over my older dewalt utility knife from a few years back. The blade is easier to change too… noticeable.
