The Bosch 1617EVSPK 2.25 HP Plunge and Fixed-Base Router Kit is a versatile kit for a broad range of applications, including precise bit plunging, edge forming, slot cutting, laminate trimming and dovetail cutting. You can also use it with a router table. The kit features a 25,000 RPM, 12 Amp motor that delivers the power needed for smooth routing. Includes bonus RA1054 Deluxe Router Edge Guide. The Bosch Deluxe Router Edge Guide greatly expands the versatility of Bosch routers. It makes it possible to do edge-forming using non-piloted bits and guides cuts along the workpiece edge or up to 8 in. from the edge. Featured equipment includes a dust extraction hood and vacuum hose adapter that allows connection to 1-1/4 in., 1-1/2 in. and 35 mm hoses. The edge guide also includes a pivot plate and can be easily converted into a circle guide for making circles and arcs up to 32 in. Dia.

Works well. I think the plastic black end pieces that makes contact with the work piece should be made of a heavier plastic material. Or make them out of aluminum.

This is my first router and so far it worked well for me.I wish the on/off switch was easier to reach while still holding both handles.It also feels like when I lock down after fine depth adjustment it shift a little bit, so I end up locking a hair off — important for round-over bits.

So far I have only used this router (in the fixed base) attached to the Bosch aluminum top router table. I’ve made Shaker doors and drawer fronts for a kitchen with very good results. The router has plenty of torque at lower rpm (for the bigger tongue and grove bits) and it has a good range of speed adjustments to suite a wide range of bits and materials. The depth adjustments are nicely designed and capable of fine tuning in small increments. It also support depth adjustment from the bottom(Allen wrench included) for when mounted to a router table. The router came with both 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets. This router does not have a shaft lock so changing bits requires two wrenches(included). I have yet to use the plunge base but it also looks to be the same top quality as the rest. Unfortunately this kit does not come with a router edge guide. One is available but as a separate purchase. I’m tempted to take off one star for that reason(but I purchased it knowing it wasn’t included so I won’t). Over all, I am very happy with this tool.
