This is the only Apple “approved” keyboard to connect with a three year old iPad (9.7″) . My Apple smart keyboard quit connecting on month 10; Apple replaced it; then 14 months later the replacement keyboard quit. Apple no longer makes a keyboard that fits the iPad. Built in REDUNDANCY! The Belkin works with the lightning plug – but it is larger and clumsy. You need to carry it around – and it is bigger than the iPad. The smart keyboard was the cover to the iPad. The Belkin works — when it is plugged in — but I will be happy in a year or two when it is time to replace the iPad and then I won’t need the cumbersome Belkin. This is NOT Belkin’s fault — it is APPLE’s issue — their own design did not hold up and they would not allow anyone to develop a replacement. APPLE is getting greedy – they want me to buy a new iPad and keyboard now. No WAY!
